Patent Place USA Policies & Frequently Asked Questions
You have questions and we have answers. Below are a few questions we have received from our customers and our best stab at an answer. If you have other questions, please ask so we can add them to our list. Thanks!
Just What Is A Patent Art Print? - Patent Place USA is home to thousands of high quality Patent Art Prints from the original United States Patent. All pages of each patent print, including the drawings, are reproduced on 8.5 by 11 inch antiqued parchment 24 lb. paper. Our prints are unique because we take the best copy available from the US Patent Office, then we digitally remove the damage caused by years of handling, copying, and even misuse in the US Patent Office, and restore it to look like the original may have look years ago. In a nutshell, we restore the authentic look from the patent's era. See our HOMEPAGE for a great example of an original patent versus one restored by Patent Place USA.
Is this a blueprint, plans or something I can use to build this item or have it produced? - A Patent Art Print is none of these things and with it you will likely not learn all the details used to produce the item. Patent Art Prints are for displaying as art or for research, not for production.
You mention on some of your Patent Art Prints that it’s a “Design Patent”. What does that mean? - We carry two types of US Patents:
- Design Patents, which cover only the looks of the patented item, and the print tends to be a page or two of illustrations, with little if any text. The illustrations are simply for the design of the item, and are usually very cool prints.
- Utility Patents, which are most of the patents we have, usually have a few illustration pages, with details and exploded views, and a complete explanation of the unique aspect of the invention. Some of the text is very detailed and dry to read, but some are very interesting and entertaining.
Once I purchase a Patent Art Print do I own the rights to produce the item or to reproduce the print? - In most cases the protection granted by the US Government to the original inventor has long since expired. In other words most of these items are in the public domain. In a few cases we offer Art Prints for items that are still under patent protection but the rights to produce the item are not being transferred with the print. Our Patent Art Prints are protected under US Copyright law and should not be reproduced.
What am I purchasing? Will I receive an actual Colt Revolver or PEZ dispenser or Pocket Fisherman (Or whatever this Patent is?) - We are selling Art which is derived from historic US Patents. These are fascinating PRINTS on Parchment Paper. The Slinky Patent Print on our HOMEPAGE is a great example of one of our products, including all the illustration and text pages. Note ... you will not receive a toy.
Will the purchase of a Patent Art Print cause me to: Lose weight, re-grow hair, stop smoking, increase my stamina and make more money? - Of course, and the effects seem to be amplified with each additional print purchased! (Please note that these results are not typical, this is not a guarantee and this statement is not valid in Alaska or Hawaii. Results may vary.)
How much is shipping and handling? - United States Customers:
- We offer FREE USPS First Class Shipping for all of our US Customers. You will receive a tracking & confirmation number via email once your item has shipped. We will upgrade your shipping service to USPS Priority Mail Shipping when you purchase 5 or more patents at the same time so that you will receive your items quicker.
- International Customers:
- We are happy to ship to all international customers for a minimal s&h fee. Unfortunately, we cannot provide any tracking information and are unable to guarantee quick shipping due to customs and other circumstances we have no control over. However, most of our customers to receive their patent prints in a week or so.
Do you have other items? I thought I saw something here before but I can’t find it now. Where did it go? - We continually add more patents to our inventory and we have THOUSANDS of Patent Art Prints in our archives! All though most of our patents in our inventory are listed here, sometimes they get lost in the shuffle. Please let us know if you can’t find something that you have either seen here before, or something that you would like to see.
Where are you located? Is this an American company or a large multi-national corporation? - My name is Jandy, which is a name my dad saw on a toy store in Dayton Ohio where I was born and raised. My husband Scott and I now reside in High Point, North Carolina where I homeschooled our daughter and now do this and take care of our dog. Researching patents is something my husband and I have been doing for years, and combined with my love of publishing and Interior Design, a small business was formed. The entire story is told on our ABOUT US page if you are interested.
What is your return policy? - Just like you we are not excited by the thought of returns, but just like you we understand that there are times that returns are necessary. If you feel you need to return your purchase we ask that you first drop us a note explaining the reason for the return within 10 days of your purchase. If the item was damaged in shipping, please EMAIL US to let us know and we’ll discuss options for return.
What if I have more questions that you didn't answer? - Then we didn't do a very good job, did we? Please contact us at www.patentplaceusa.com for any question, comment, cheap shot, info, or just to say 'hey'.
