* Leonard Bailey was contracted by Stanley in New Britain, CT to produce tools and remained there about 4 years until termination of his contract in 1873. At that time, he established himself as L. Bailey & Co. in Harford, CT.
Bailey acquired patents for the 'Victor' line of radically different planes, since he was not allowed to produce planes under his 7 patents he had been licensed to Stanley.
In all Bailey was granted 43 patents ... 22 of which were for carpenters tools and 21 were for a variety of copy presses and machinery.
